Hints for everyday enjoyment

Pick up a few tips to enjoy your Walkman more every day.
Handy tips are pointed out here such as how to get your batteries to last longer and easily adjust your volume level according to the situation.

Boosting battery performance

Turn on the airplane mode.
When the airplane mode is on, the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC functions are deactivated.

  1. Press and hold the power button.

  2. Tap [Airplane mode].

If you use your Walkman with the airplane mode off, deactivating the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions when not using those will make the battery last longer.
You can also save power in the following ways as well to make the battery last longer.

  • Lower the brightness of the screen.

  • Shorten the time before the screen is turned off.

  • Deactivate the GPS function when not in use.

  • Turn off the screen when you are not using your Walkman.

  • Turn off the power when you will not be using your Walkman for a long time.

Adjusting the volume level

Your Walkman memorizes different volume settings for when headphones are connected and disconnected.

When listening using headphones, maximize the volume for [Music, video, games, & other media], and then adjust with [Master] to decrease the effect on sound quality.

When your Walkman is connected to a USB DAC AMPLIFIER or headphone amplifier digitally, turning down the volume for [Music, video, games, & other media] will also reduce digital output volume. Therefore, turn up that volume to maximum and adjust the volume on the connected device.

On the Home screen, tap - [Settings] - [ Sound] - [Volume] to check the volume.

Configuring sound quality settings

First, try listening to your music with ClearAudio+ and other sound quality settings deactivated. Turn them back on when you want better sound performance.

Using the equalizer

You can alter the atmosphere of the music by adjusting the equalizer.

On the Home screen, tap - [Settings] - [ Sound] - [Sound Settings] to display the equalizer. You can adjust the loudness by individual frequency band.

First, set 1 kHz to +10 and sample the music. Next, set it to -10.
You should notice that some sounds get louder and quieter.

Make similar changes to other frequency bands as well. By repeating this, you can tailor the music to your exact liking.
Afterwards, make fine adjustments to your music as necessary.

A: Displays the name of the selected equalizer. Tap and select one from the 8 preset settings or registered settings according to your favorite song genres or your desired sound quality.
B: Adjusts bass to mid-range frequencies. Adjusting to + gives a heavy feel and adjusting - gives a light feel.
C: Adjusts mid- to high-range frequencies. Adjusting to + gives a bright feel and adjusting to - gives a dark feel.
D: Adjusts low frequencies. Adjusting to + empathizes bass sound and adjusting to - gives a lighter feel.

Resetting

Press and hold the power button for about 8 seconds.

The effect is similar to pressing the RESET button on your Walkman.
This operation is also available when the screen is off.
