Customizing sound quality settings

You can use various functions to set the desired sound quality.

  1. In the Home screen, tap .
  2. Tap [Sound Settings] - desired tab - desired setting.

Equalizer function

You can set the sound quality according to the music genre. You can also preset your equalizer settings as a custom setting.

Surround sound function

You can set sound effects and enrich the sound reproduction quality of the audio playback. VPT, which stands for Virtualphones Technology, is a proprietary sound processing technology developed by Sony.

DSEE HX function

This function upscales the audio file to a High-Resolution Audio file (*1) and reproduces the clear high-range sound that is often lost. However, the available playback time of the fully charged battery may be reduced when this function is used.

Dynamic normalizer function

Moderates the volume between songs to minimize the differences in volume level.

(*1) The file is expanded to an equivalent of a maximum of 192 kHz/24 bits.

Note

  • [Sound Settings] is not applied if [ClearAudio+] is turned on.
  • The [DSEE HX] function and [Dynamic normalizer] function work effectively with the [ClearAudio+] function. However, the setting of the [DSEE HX] function and [Dynamic normalizer] function cannot be changed.
  • The [DSEE HX] function does not work for High-Resolution Audio files.
  • The [DSEE HX] function does not work effectively if the bit rate is too low to be properly supplemented.
