Notes on handling

Charging

  • The charging time differs depending on the battery usage conditions.
  • If the battery life is reduced to about half of its normal life even if sufficiently charged, it has probably worn out. Please contact your nearest Sony dealer.

Handling the device

  • Do not drop the device, place heavy things on top of it, or subject it to any strong shock or pressure. Doing so may cause it to break.
  • Do not leave the device in the following sorts of places.
    • In direct sunlight, near a heater, or in other places that become extremely hot
The device may become discolored, warped, or broken.

    • In the dashboard of your car or under the hot sun with the car windows closed (especially in summer)

    • Places with a lot of dust
    • Places that are uneven or unstable
    • Places that vibrate a lot
    • Places with high humidity, like a bathroom or sauna
    • Near a magnet, speaker box, TV, or other magnetically charged object
  • When there is noise in the audio of a radio or TV, turn off the device and separate it from the radio or TV.
  • Do not fall asleep while wearing the headphones.
  • If you feel your skin react badly while using the Smart B-Trainer (main device), stop use immediately and consult a doctor or your nearest Sony dealer.
  • To prevent the casing from warping or breaking when using the device, be sure to follow the instructions below.
    • Do not sit down with the device in your back pocket.

  • If tanning oil or sunscreen gets onto the device, wash it off using lukewarm water. Otherwise, it may cause discoloration or damage (such as cracks) to occur.
  • The earbuds, adjustment covers for Heart rate sensor, and adjustment band may deteriorate with long-term use and storage.

Storing the device

A lithium-ion rechargeable battery is built into the device. When you store it for a long period of time, be sure to follow the storage instructions below.

  • Leaving a charged battery unused for a long period of time causes deterioration of the battery and results in a decrease of battery capacity. The deterioration is more severe when the battery is stored with a full charge, and is accelerated by prolonged exposure to heat, such as when leaving the device in a car while connected to the power port. Store the device at temperatures below 35 °C ( 95 °F). Charging or discharging the battery to approximately 50% total capacity before storage is also recommended.
  • The battery deteriorates when left in a depleted condition. Charge the battery to approximately 50% total capacity at least once every six to twelve months to prevent deterioration.

Usage

  • Do not listen to headphones while driving a car, auto bike, bicycle, or other vehicle.

In addition to while driving, do not use the device at a railway crossing or train platform, on roads with cars, at a construction site, or any other place where an inability to hear your surroundings would be dangerous.

  • Refrain from using the device as is requested by in-flight announcements during takeoff or landing in an aircraft.
  • Refrain from using the device in crowded places, where it is necessary to be considerate of your surroundings.
  • The earbuds on headphones that plug your ears also seal your ears to a high degree. Therefore, be aware that there is a risk of damage to your ears or eardrums if strong pressure is applied to the earbuds or the earbuds are removed suddenly from your ears. After use, wiggle the earbuds up and down and remove them slowly.
  • If the device is taken from a cold place immediately into a warm place, entering a heated room on a winter morning for example, condensation can form on the surface or within the device. Condensation occurs when the moisture in the air attaches to things like metal plates and forms water droplets. If condensation forms, set the device aside with the power off until the condensation has dissipated. If you use it in that state, a fault may occur.

Note on static electricity

When the air is dry, you may feel a tingling pain in your ear, but this is not a device malfunction. It is a result of the static electricity accumulated in your body. The effect can be reduced by wearing clothes made of natural fibers, which do not generate as much static.
