Using Your VAIO Computer as a Remote Control (VAIO Remote control)

With VAIO Remote control, you can control devices, such as a TV, a set-top box (STB), a DVD player/recorder, or a Blu-ray player/recorder, from a distance.

VAIO Remote control uses the infrared communication system.

  1. Start VAIO Remote control. (See Searching/Starting Apps, Settings, or Files to start VAIO Remote control.)

Hint

  • Your VAIO computer can learn the control signals of devices that are not displayed on the list of the device type or manufacturer on VAIO Remote control.

To add new signals to the computer, follow the on-screen instructions. Be sure to adjust the position of that device's remote control and the computer correctly so that the control and the computer are on the same level, and bring the infrared transmitter of the control close to the infrared port ().

  • If you press the button on the remote control several times during the learning process, your VAIO computer may learn the control signal incorrectly. Keep pressing and holding down the button until the process is complete.

  • VAIO Remote control does not support some devices that can receive infrared signals. Even if your VAIO computer can learn the control signals of the devices, you may not be able to control the devices using the computer.
