Setting sound quality yourself
You can use the following functions to set your desired sound quality.
DSEE HX function is available for Walkman software that has been updated to Ver.1.10 or later.
- Equalizer function
- Surround sound
- DSEE HX function
- Clear Stereo function
- In the Home screen, tap - [Settings] - [ Sound] - [Sound Settings] - desired tab - desired setting.
Explanation of settings
Equalizer function
You can set the sound quality according to the music genre.
[Off], [Rock], [Pop], [Jazz], [Unique], [Soul], [Easy listening], [Bass boost], [Treble boost], [Custom], [User-defined 1], [User-defined 2]
Surround sound function
You can set sound effects and enrich the sound reproduction quality of the audio playback. VPT, which stands for Virtualphones Technology, is a proprietary sound processing technology developed by Sony.
[Off], [Studio], [Club], [Concert hall], [Matrix]
DSEE HX function
This function upgrades the audio file to a High-Resolution Audio file (*1) and reproduces the clear high-range sound which is often lost. However, the available playback time of the fully charged battery may be reduced when this function is used.
Clear Stereo function
This function uses digital processing to clearly distinguish between sound from the left and right of the supplied headphones, emphasizing the stereo effect during playback.
(*1) The file is expanded to a maximum 192 kHz/24 bit equivalent.
Note
- [Sound Settings] is not applied if [ClearAudio+] is turned on.
- The [DSEE HX] function does not work for High-Resolution Audio files.
- The [DSEE HX] function does not work effectively if the bit rate is too low to be properly supplemented.
- The [Clear Stereo] function is designed to obtain maximum effect with the supplied headphones. The Clear Stereo effect may not be obtained with other headphones. In this case, tap [Clear Stereo] and remove the checkmark.
- The [Clear Stereo] function does not work when listening to audio on a Bluetooth audio device.
