Bluetooth communication

Cannot register a Bluetooth audio device (cannot complete pairing)
  • Your “WALKMAN” and the Bluetooth audio device are too far from each other for Bluetooth communication.

  • Register (pair) them within the communication range [Details].

  • The Bluetooth audio device does not support profiles that your “WALKMAN” does.

  • If the support profiles are different, your “WALKMAN” and Bluetooth audio device cannot be registered (paired).

Bluetooth communication does not start.
  • The Bluetooth audio device is not turned on.

  • Turn on the Bluetooth audio device and set it up for Bluetooth communication.

  • Bluetooth connection has ended.

  • Registering (pairing) the Bluetooth audio device has failed or not been completed.

  • Your “WALKMAN” cannot communicate with devices that it has not registered. Register (pair) your “WALKMAN” and the Bluetooth audio device(s) [Details].

  • Your “WALKMAN” or Bluetooth audio device has entered the standby mode.

  • Restore it from standby mode.

  • The battery is running low or nearly empty.

  • Charge the battery by connecting your “WALKMAN” to a running computer or AC outlet [Details].

  • The registration information on your “WALKMAN” or Bluetooth audio device has been deleted as a result of formatting, resetting, etc.

  • Register (pair) your “WALKMAN” and the Bluetooth audio device again.

You cannot hear the sound from the communicating Bluetooth audio device.
  • The Bluetooth audio device volume is muted.

  • Change the settings to restore the audio function.

  • The volume is set to zero.

  • It may not be possible to wirelessly adjust the volume of certain Bluetooth audio devices. Turn up the volume of the Bluetooth audio device and your “WALKMAN” to a moderate level.

  • Your “WALKMAN” or Bluetooth audio device is not turned on.

  • Turn it on, and set it up for Bluetooth communication.

  • The Bluetooth audio device may not support A2DP profile.

  • Check whether the Bluetooth audio device supports A2DP profile [Details].

  • Playback of a file has not started.

  • The Bluetooth audio device is not turned on.

  • Turn on the Bluetooth audio device and set it up for Bluetooth communication.

  • Bluetooth connection has ended.

  • A song that you want to play back is not selected.

  • Select the song on your “WALKMAN.”

You cannot adjust the volume.
  • The HOLD switch is set to the HOLD position.

  • Slide the HOLD switch to the opposite position [Details].

  • You cannot wirelessly adjust the volume of certain devices. Turn up the volume of the Bluetooth audio device or your “WALKMAN” by hand.

The sound distorts or breaks.
  • A device using the 2.4 GHz frequency, such as a wireless LAN device, cordless telephone, or microwave oven, is in use near your “WALKMAN” or the device.

  • Perform Bluetooth communication away from electronic devices.

  • Communication is obstructed by, for example, metal, walls or people.

  • Remove any obstacles or change the location to secure communication.

  • If you have not applied sound effects in [Sound Effect Preset], the [Clear Stereo] function will not work during Bluetooth communication [Details].

The sound breaks frequently.
  • A device using the 2.4 GHz frequency, such as a wireless LAN device, cordless telephone, or microwave oven, is in use near your “WALKMAN” or the device.

  • Perform Bluetooth communication away from electronic devices.

  • Communication is obstructed by, for example, metal, walls or people.

  • Remove any obstacles or change the location to secure communication.

  • The bit rate setting is improper for the usage environment.

  • The stability of communication is based on the bit rate setting and the usage environment. If communication is unstable, adjust the bit rate in [Wireless Playback Quality] to secure communication [Details].

Sound skips.
  • Sound skips may occur depending on the usage environment or settings. They may be reduced in the following ways.

  • Place your “WALKMAN” and the Bluetooth audio device closer together.

  • Set the [Wireless Playback Quality] setting to [Prioritize Connection] [Details].

  • Set the [DPC (Speed Control)] setting to [Off] [Details] and the [Karaoke/Language Study] setting to [Off] [Details].

Noise is generated.
  • Bluetooth connection is unstable.

  • You may hear noise under certain communication conditions. Change the location and restart communication [Details].

  • You may hear noise from only one side of the headphones, depending on the connection status.

  • End the Bluetooth connection and reestablish it.

Video sound is delayed.
  • When you listen to video sound from certain Bluetooth audio devices, the sound may slightly lag behind the video.

A received file is not displayed.
  • Your “WALKMAN” does not support the file.

You cannot delete files.
  • The files are not received songs.

  • Delete them using the software you used to transfer, or Windows Explorer. To delete received file(s), see [Details].

  • Your “WALKMAN” does not support the received files.

  • The received files cannot be displayed on the screen of your “WALKMAN.” To delete them, use Windows Explore or delete them all [Details].

Album cover art is not displayed.
  • Cover art may not be sent via Bluetooth connection, depending on the software used to set the cover art.

The screen to enter the passkey appears.
  • A passkey may be required, depending on the connected Bluetooth audio device.

  • Enter the same profile number (4 to 10 - digits) on your “WALKMAN” and the Bluetooth audio device. If you cannot enter the number on the Bluetooth audio device, refer to the manual of the device.
