Receiving a file

You can have your Walkman receive files from a Bluetooth device via Bluetooth connection.
  1. From the Home menu, select [Bluetooth] [Receive File].

  • Your Walkman enters standby state to receive a file.

  1. Send a file from the Bluetooth device to your Walkman.

  • The BD address (alphanumeric code) of your Walkman is displayed under the model name on the Walkman’s screen. The BD address is specific to your Walkman. When the Bluetooth device displays the receiver’s BD address, make sure that the BD addresses displayed on the device and on your Walkman are the same. (Some Bluetooth devices may not display the receiver’s BD address.)

  • A pairing process is performed when it is the first time for the device to establish a Bluetooth connection with your Walkman. When authentication codes (letters and digits) appear on your Walkman and on the Bluetooth device, check that they are the same.

  1. Press the BACK/HOME button after receiving a file.

  • Your Walkman is released from standby state.

Hint
  • Received files are placed in the [RECEIVED] folder in your Walkman.

  • If files of the same name are received, a file number is added between the filename and extension.

  • Although your Walkman can receive files in unsupported formats, those files cannot be displayed or played back. You need to use Windows Explorer to search the [RECEIVED] folder for them.

Note
  • When the screen to enter the passkey (*1) appears, enter the passkey of the Bluetooth device. Use the / buttons to select the number, and use the / buttons to move the cursor. After you enter the passkey, press the button to confirm.
(*1) “Passkey” is also called “Pass code,” “PIN code,” “PIN number,” or “Pass word.” The passkey of your Walkman is “0000.” For information on the passkey of the Bluetooth device, refer to the manual of that device.

  • If a time-out occurs, send the file from the Bluetooth device again.

  • File transfer may fail if the Bluetooth device is too far from your Walkman, or there is interference from other devices. In those cases, reduce the distance between your Walkman and the Bluetooth device, and keep a good distance from other devices or turn them off if possible.

  • When your Walkman receives a file, playback will be stopped.

  • Maximum receivable file size is 4 GB.
