Connection method 4: Connecting to a Wi-Fi network using an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch

Note that the speaker should be initialized to the factory default for this connection. All BLUETOOTH device registration (pairing) information is deleted.

The speaker can be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch, if the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch is iOS 8 or later. The Wi-Fi settings of the speaker is made by the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.

Do the following before starting.

  • Disconnect the LAN cable (not supplied) from the speaker.
  • Place the speaker near the wireless router and the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.
  • Set the Wi-Fi antenna on the rear to the upright position.
  • Make sure that the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch is updated to iOS 8 or later.
  1. Connect a iPhone/iPad/iPod touch to the wireless router.

Connect it to 2.4 GHz band (11b, 11g, and 11n) or 5 GHz band (11a and 11n). The speaker is not compatible with IEEE 802.11ac.

  2. With the speaker turned on, tap and hold the VOL (volume) – button and the (on/standby) button at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

The power of the speaker turns off automatically. The settings of the speaker return to their factory defaults, and network settings and all BLUETOOTH device registration (pairing) information are deleted.

  3. Turn on the speaker.

The (on/standby) indicator lights up in green, then the LINK indicator begins to flash. Go to the next step when the LINK indicator flashes slowly (once per three seconds).
In some cases, this slow flashing may take about four or five minutes to begin.

  4. Search for the speaker using the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.
    1. Select [Settings].
    2. Touch [SRS-X88] from the list.

  5. Perform the Wi-Fi network settings on the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.

Follow the instructions on the screen.

  6. Check that the LINK indicator lights up in orange.

When the speaker is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch, the LINK indicator lights up in orange. It may take more than a minute for the LINK indicator to light up.

    The connection is complete.

Note

  • This procedure needs to be completed within 30 minutes. If you cannot complete within 30 minutes, start over from step 2.
  • Until you finish the Wi-Fi network setting, it will not be protected. The Wi-Fi network will be protected again after setting the Wi-Fi security.
  • When you connect the speaker to a Wi-Fi network for the first time after purchase, the BLUETOOTH/Network standby function is turned on automatically.
