Precautions Related to the Network Function

This topic describes precautions about the network function of the unit.

  • If unauthorized access is detected, the camera may become unable to accept communications. If this occurs, reconnect from the beginning.
  • The authentication information for connecting to the unit is displayed using [Technical] – [Network] – [Wireless] – [SSID] and [Password] in the full menu. Take care that the screen cannot be viewed by others.
  • When using the network function for the first time, the [Technical] – [Authentication] – [Password] setting in the full menu is blank. If a password is not configured, [Network] menu items in the setup menu are disabled (grayed out), and network settings cannot be configured.
  • Use Basic authentication for access authentication to the unit. There is a risk of communications being intercepted unless you access the device directly (not connecting via an access point or network hub) or you use network client mode. Sony will not be liable for any damages resulting from security measures not being taken, or if a security problem occurs due to unavoidable circumstances related to the connection.
  • When setting your user name and password, make sure that the settings are not visible to others. Set the user name and password as follows.

    [User Name]
    • Set a user name comprising 1 to 16 characters.
    • This is set to “admin” by factory default.

    [Password]
