Listening with the AirPlay function (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch)

You can enjoy music stored in an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch wirelessly using AirPlay.

Update the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch to the latest version in advance.

  1. Connect the speaker and iPhone/iPad/iPod touch to your network.

The LINK indicator lights up in green or orange when the connection is complete.

  2. Tap the NETWORK button.

The NETWORK indicator lights up in white, and the speaker switches to NETWORK mode.

The speaker can also be switched to NETWORK mode automatically, instead of tapping the NETWORK button, by selecting the speaker in the AirPlay menu of iPhone/iPad/iPod touch, then playing back music.

  3. Select the icon in the bottom right of the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch screen.

  4. Select [SONY:SRS-X9] on the AirPlay menu of iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.

  5. Start playing back music on the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch, and adjust the volume.

The speaker starts playing back the selected song.

If playback does not start, perform the process again from step 3.

To enjoy more dynamic sound

Remove the speaker grille on the front of the speaker with the speaker grille detach tool (supplied).*

*Keep the removed grille on a flat surface to prevent distortion.

Using the speaker or remote control during playback

You can adjust the volume using the VOL (volume) -/+ buttons of the speaker or the VOLUME +/- buttons of the remote control.

You can also use the MUTING button, (Play/Pause) button, or / (Previous/Next) button of the remote control.

Hint

  • The procedure explained above is for guideline purposes. For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the device.
  • After the dedicated application "SongPal" is downloaded and installed to your smartphone/iPhone, you can use your smartphone/iPhone as a remote control to operate components connected to the speaker.
  • The volume level set by the VOL (volume) -/+ buttons of the speaker and that set in iPhone/iPad/iPod touch are linked.

Note

  • Loud sound may be output from the speaker if you set the volume too high by the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.
  • In some cases, the volume level of the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch might not link with the volume level of the speaker.
