Connecting to a network via a wired LAN (USB-LAN)

Configure the settings for connecting the camera to the network using a commercially available USB-LAN conversion adaptor.

(A) Camera
  • For the location of the USB Type-C terminal, see the “Help Guide” for the camera.
(B) USB-LAN conversion adaptor (sold separately)
  • Use a Type-C USB-LAN conversion adaptor.
    We recommend that you use a gigabit ethernet adaptor. However, Sony does not guarantee the operation of all products.
(C) LAN cable (sold separately)
  • Use a Category 5e or higher Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cable with high shielding performance.
(D) Router (sold separately)


  1. MENU (Network) → [Wired LAN] → Configure the connection settings via a wired LAN.

    IP Address Setting : Selects whether to set the IP address of the wired LAN automatically or manually. ([Auto]/[Manual]).

    • If you have set [IP Address Setting] to [Manual], enter the fixed address and information according to the network environment. ([IP Address]/[Subnet Mask]/[Default Gateway]/[Primary DNS Server]/[Second DNS Server])

    Display Wired LAN Info.: Displays information of the USB-LAN conversion adaptor connected to this camera, such as the MAC address and IP address.

  2. MENU (Network) → [USB LAN/Tethering][USB LAN/Teth Cnct] → Set the USB terminal to use.
    • Only the USB Type-C terminal of USB PORT 1 supports SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps (USB 3.2). It is recommended to use USB PORT 1 when connecting the camera.
    • You can also connect the camera using USB PORT 2, but USB communication will be Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0) communication.
  3. MENU (Network) → [USB LAN/Tethering][USB LAN Connection].

To display the QR Code for the MAC address

  • You can import the MAC address of this camera to a smartphone. Use the following method to display the QR Code on the screen, and read the QR Code using the Transfer & Tagging smartphone application.
    • Press the (Delete) button on the [Display Wired LAN Info.] screen.

    The Transfer & Tagging is only available in certain countries and regions.

Note

  • Connect the camera via a properly configured and managed router or connect it to a LAN port with the same functionality as a router. If you do not connect it in this way, security issues may occur. Properly configuring the router will provide sufficient protection against DoS attacks or loss of functionality of devices in the network. If you notice any abnormality, immediately disconnect the camera from the network.
