Restricting playback of the disc (Parental Control)

You can restrict playback of DVD VIDEOs according to a predetermined level. Scenes may be skipped or replaced with different scenes.

  1. When playback is stopped, hold down SHIFT and press SETUP.
  2. Press(up)/(down) repeatedly to select [SYSTEM SETUP], then press(enter).
  3. Press(up)/(down) repeatedly to select [PARENTAL CONTROL], then press(enter).
  4. Hold down SHIFT and press the numeric buttons to enter or re-enter your 4-digit password, then press(enter).
  5. Press(up)/(down) repeatedly to select [STANDARD], then press(enter).
  6. Press(up)/(down) repeatedly to select a geographic area as the playback limitation level, then press(enter).

    The area is selected.

    When you select [OTHERS ], enter the area code for the geographic area you want according to Parental Control area code list by holding down SHIFT and press the numeric buttons.

  7. Press(up)/(down) repeatedly to select [LEVEL], then press(enter).
  8. Press(up)/(down) repeatedly to select the level you want, then press(enter).

    The lower the value, the stricter the limitation.

To turn off the parental control function

Set [LEVEL] to [OFF] in stepnumber 8.

To play back a disc for which the parental control is set

  1. Load the disc and press(play).

    The display for entering your password appears on the TV screen.

  2. Hold down SHIFT and press the numeric buttons to enter or re-enter your 4-digit password, then press(enter).

    The system starts playback.

If you forget your password

  1. Remove the disc and repeat stepsnumber 1tonumber 3.

  2. Hold down SHIFT and press the numeric buttons to enter a password [199703], then press(enter).

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and enter a new 4-digit password.

  4. Reload the disc and press(play).

    You need to enter your new password again.
