Transferring contacts
There are several ways to transfer contacts to your new device. You can synchronize contacts from an online account or import contacts directly from another device.
If you synchronize the contacts in your old device with an online account, you can transfer your contacts to your new device using that account.
You can also copy contacts to a memory card, use Bluetooth technology, or save contacts to a SIM card. For more specific information about transferring the contacts from your old device, refer to the relevant User guide.
Transferring contacts using an online account
If you synchronize the contacts in your old device or your computer with an online account, for example, Google Sync™ or Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, you can transfer your contacts to your new device using that account.
To turn auto-sync data on or off
- Find and tap
(Contacts icon). - Tap
(Options icon), then tap Settings. - Tap Accounts, then tap the Automatically sync data switch to enable or disable the function.
- Tap OK.
Note
You need to be signed in to the relevant sync account before you can synchronize your contacts with it.
Other methods for transferring contacts
There are several other ways to transfer contacts from your old device to your new device. For example, you can copy contacts to a memory card, or use Bluetooth technology. For more specific information about transferring the contacts from your old device, refer to the relevant User guide.
To import contacts from a memory card
- Find and tap (Contacts icon).
- Tap (Options icon), then tap Settings > Import > SD card or internal storage (.vcf file).
- Select where to store your contacts.
- Tap (Options icon), then select SD card.
- Select the files that you want to import by tapping them.
To import contacts using Bluetooth
- Tap Settings > Device connection > Pair new device, and make sure that your device is set to visible.
- When you are notified of an incoming file to your device, drag the status bar downwards and tap the notification to accept the file transfer.
- Tap Accept to start the file transfer.
- Drag the status bar downwards. When the transfer is complete, tap the notification.
- Tap the received file and select where to store your contacts.
To import contacts from a SIM card
- Find and tap (Contacts icon).
- Tap (Options icon), then tap Settings > Import.
- Single SIM users, tap Import from SIM card. Dual SIM users, select a SIM card.
- Select where to store your contacts.
- Select contacts to import, then tap Import.
