Connecting to a wireless LAN in owner mode (Windows Vista)
You can access data on all storage devices when you have connected to this unit in owner mode.
- Turn on this unit.
Wait until the (Wireless LAN indicator) lamp lights green.
- Right-click the icon on the task tray in the lower right of the computer screen.
- Click [Connect to a network].
- Select "WG-C20-xxxxxx*" from the wireless network select screen, then click [Connect].
* "xxxxxx" of "WG-C20-xxxxxx" stands for the last 6 digits of the MAC address. For details on the MAC address, see "Parts and controls."
If you are asked for a network key, enter the password you have set in Changing the settings of this unit from your computer via a browser (Access control) or Setting the Wi-Fi security using File Manager .
When [Connect] is displayed on the same line as "WG-C20-xxxxxx," this unit and the computer are connected.
Note
- It is necessary to set security when you connect this unit to your computer for the first time. Setting security is extremely important when using devices equipped with the wireless LAN function. If the security is not set, it is possible for the unit to be accessed from any compatible device within the communication range.
- Depending on the computer environment you use, it may take time to connect this unit and the computer.
- Note that the Internet connection of the computer stops if this unit is connected to the computer via wireless LAN. To connect to the Internet again, perform the procedure in Changing the settings of this unit from your computer via a browser (Internet connection).
- "WG-C20-xxxxxx" is the default device name. You can change it by the procedure in Changing the settings of this unit from your computer via a browser (General).
