How to keep the software up-to-date (for comfortable use of the speaker)

Use the “Sound Connect” app to apply the latest updates to the speaker’s software. This allows you to enjoy new features and resolve certain issues.

Be sure to keep the speaker software up-to-date to use the speaker.

You can apply updates to the speaker software by following the procedure below.

  1. Download an update from the server to your smartphone on which the “Sound Connect” app is installed.
  2. Transfer the update from your smartphone to the speaker.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the speaker software.

Note

  • When your smartphone has other connected BLUETOOTH devices, keep all the BLUETOOTH devices turned off until the update process finishes on the speaker. Note that the smartphone in question here is the one you use to download and transfer updates to the speaker. When the devices that are connected to your smartphone are compatible with the Bluetooth Low Energy standard, the update process of the speaker software may fail. Note that the devices in question here include a wearable device and a smartwatch.

  • If the updating process on the speaker fails to finish, do the following and try again.

    • On your smartphone, close all the apps except the “Sound Connect” app.

    • Charge the battery of your smartphone sufficiently for the update process.

    • Bring the speaker and your smartphone as close as possible with each other. Note that the smartphone in question here is the one you use to download and transfer updates to the speaker.

    • Move your smartphone away from the vicinity of other wireless LAN or BLUETOOTH devices when updating.

    • Bring your smartphone out of power-saving mode (*). Depending on the version of the operating system, your smartphone does not let the update process finish while the smartphone is in power-saving mode.

    • Deactivate the Auto Standby function on your speaker. When the update process takes a long time, the Auto Standby function may be activated during the process.

(*) The mode name varies depending on the smartphone in use.
