Notes on Use

Precautions

  • The supplied AC adaptor is designed exclusively for this speaker system. It should not be used in combination with any other device.*
  • Completely disconnect the AC adaptor from the AC outlet (mains) if it is not going to be used for an extended period of time. When unplugging the AC adaptor, be sure to grasp it by its adaptor section, not by its cord.
  • Do not remove the plug part from the supplied AC adaptor and connect the plug to the AC outlet (mains) alone. There may be a risk of electric shock or fire.*
  • When using a commercially available AC adaptor, use a USB PD compatible AC adaptor of 15 W or higher. However, if an AC adaptor with less than 45 W is used, charging may take longer or may not perform as intended.
    • If an AC adaptor of less than 15 W is used, the front speaker charge indicator flashes and the speaker system does not operate.
    • When using a commercially available USB PD compatible AC adaptor, use a USB Type-C® cable (compliant with the USB standard) that supports USB PD.

*The AC adapter is only supplied in some countries/regions.

On placement

  • When carrying the rear speakers on the front speaker, hold the front speaker firmly, not the rear speakers, to prevent them from slipping out of your hands. The front and rear speakers are attracted to each other by built-in magnets. The SONY logo on the rear speakers should be on the rear side of the front speaker for stability.
  • Do not splash water onto this product and the supplied accessories. Those are not waterproof.
  • To eliminate the risk of malfunctions, avoid the following locations when placing or leaving this speaker system.
    • A place subject to high temperatures, such as under direct sunlight or lighting equipment, near a heat source, or in a sauna
    • Inside a vehicle with the windows closed (especially in summertime)
    • A place subject to excessive dust
    • A place subject to strong vibration
  • Place this speaker system on a flat, level surface. When placed on a sloped surface, the speaker system may fall over or fall off the surface due to its own vibration, resulting in injuries, malfunctions, or performance degradation.
  • Depending on the conditions where this speaker system is placed, it may fall over or fall off the surface. Do not leave any valuables near the speaker system.
  • This speaker system is not anti-magnetic. Keep objects susceptible to magnetism (recorded tapes, watches, cash cards and credit cards with magnetic coding, etc.) away from the speaker system. When you carry around the speaker system, keep this in mind as well.
  • Do not place metal objects other than a TV around the speaker system. Wireless functions may be unstable.
  • If you use this speaker system for a long time, the temperature of this speaker system may rise, but it is not a malfunction.
  • At high temperature, the charging may stop or the volume may reduce to protect the battery.
  • Do not use or leave the speaker system in an extremely cold or hot environment (temperature outside the range of 5 °C – 35 °C (41 °F – 95 °F)). If the speaker system is used or left in outside the above range, the speaker system may automatically stop to protect internal circuitry.
  • Even if you do not intend to use the speaker system for a long time, charge the battery to its full capacity once every 6 months to maintain its performance.

On connecting of the front and rear speakers

  • The front and rear speakers are factory-linked and do not connect except in the combination included.

Life span of the built-in lithium ion battery

  • Even if you do not intend to use the speaker system for a long time, charge the built-in battery sufficiently once every 6 months to maintain its performance.
  • If the speaker system is not used for a long time, it may take longer to charge the built-in battery.
  • The rechargeable built-in battery has a life span. As time passes and the number of times that the built-in battery is used increases, the capacity of the rechargeable built-in battery slowly decreases. When the amount of time that the built-in battery can be used seems significantly shorter, despite having been fully charged, contact your nearest Sony dealer.
  • When the amount of time that the built-in battery can be used seems significantly shorter, it could mean that the rechargeable built-in battery has expired.
  • The life span of the rechargeable built-in battery differs depending on the usage, environment, and storage method.

How to care for the speaker system

  • To clean the speaker system, use a soft cloth slightly moistened with neutral detergent. Do not use polishing agent, scrubbing brush, thinner, benzine, alcohol, etc.
  • In cold or hot locations, condensation can occur which may cause the speaker system to malfunction. If condensation occurs, wipe off with a dry, soft cloth.

On BLUETOOTH communications

  • The BLUETOOTH wireless technology is a short-range wireless technology that enables communication between digital devices, such as smartphones and computers. The maximum communication distance may vary depending on the presence of obstacles (people, metal objects, walls, etc.) or the electromagnetic environment.
  • Microwaves emitting from a BLUETOOTH device may affect the operation of electronic medical devices. Turn off the speaker system and other BLUETOOTH devices in the following locations, as it may cause an accident:
    • in hospitals, near priority seating in trains, locations where inflammable gas is present, near automatic doors, or near fire alarms.
  • The speaker system supports security functions that comply with the BLUETOOTH standard as a means of ensuring security during communication using BLUETOOTH wireless technology. However, depending on the configured settings and other factors, this security may not be sufficient. Be careful when communicating using BLUETOOTH wireless technology.
  • Sony shall assume no responsibility for any damages or loss resulting from information leaks that occur when using BLUETOOTH communications.
  • BLUETOOTH connections with all BLUETOOTH devices cannot be guaranteed.
    • BLUETOOTH devices connected with the speaker system must comply with the BLUETOOTH standard prescribed by Bluetooth SIG, Inc., and must be certified as compliant.
    • Even when a connected device complies with the BLUETOOTH standard, there may be cases where the characteristics or specifications of the BLUETOOTH device make it unable to connect, or result in different control methods, display, or operation.
  • Noise may occur or the audio may cut off depending on the BLUETOOTH device connected with the speaker system, the communications environment, or surrounding conditions.
  • Depending on the device to be connected, it may require some time to start communications.

Other notes

  • Disabling the [Auto Standby] function may increase the power consumption because the product will not turn off automatically when not being used.
  • If you have any questions or problems concerning this speaker system that are not covered in this manual, please consult your nearest Sony dealer.
