Connecting the camera to a computer

  1. Insert a sufficiently charged battery pack into the camera.
  2. Turn on the camera and the computer.
  3. Select (Setup)[USB][USB Cnct Mode (PORT1)]/[USB Cnct Mode (PORT2)] and then set the USB connection mode of the USB Type-C terminal you want to use to [MassStorage(MSC)].
  4. Connect the USB Type-C terminal on the camera to the computer with a USB cable (commercially available).
    • Only the USB Type-C terminal of USB PORT 1 supports SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps (USB 3.2). It is recommended to use USB PORT 1 when connecting the camera to a computer.
    • You can also connect the camera to a computer using USB PORT 2, but USB communication will be Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0) communication.
    • When you connect the camera to the computer for the first time, the procedure for recognizing the camera may start automatically on the computer. Wait until the procedure is finished.
    • Depending on the setting for [USB Power Supply], when you connect the camera to your computer with a USB cable, power will be supplied from your computer. Since [USB Power Supply] is set to [Auto] in the default settings, power supply will start when you establish a USB connection only with the computer. You can set which USB Type-C terminal to use for power supply using [USB Power Supply].
    • Use a cable that complies with the USB standard.
    • Use a SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps (USB 3.2)-compatible computer and a commercially available USB cable for higher-speed communications.

Note

  • Do not turn on/off or restart the computer, or wake the computer from sleep mode when a USB connection has been established between the computer and the camera. Doing so may cause a malfunction. Before turning on/off or restarting the computer, or waking the computer from sleep mode, disconnect the camera from the computer.
