Starting Live Streaming

You can start and stop live streaming as described below on the Live Streaming screen of the connection manager.

Specify the transmitter device at the on-site shooting location and enable transmission for live streaming.

  1. Select a transmitter displaying a thumbnail in the transmitter area.
  2. Select the SDI port group to output in [Assign to] in the settings area.
  3. Select the maximum bit rate for live streaming in [Network Range] in the settings area.
  4. Select the delay time for live streaming in [Latency] in the settings area.
  5. Click [Set] to save the settings in the settings area.
  6. Click [Start] in the live streaming control area.
    Distribution of live streaming video starts.

To stop live streaming

Click [Stop] in the live streaming control area.

To save live streaming video to a file

You can save live streaming video on the SDI 1 and SDI 2 ports to a file by selecting [File Output] on the [Receiver] tab of the Settings screen. The saving start/stop control follows the settings on the [Receiver] tab. Files are saved in the “/opt/sony/c3p/rx-server/out/” folder.

When saving to a file, the (File output) icon is displayed on the thumbnails in the receiver area. If an error occurs while saving to a file, a (File output error) icon appears. Check the status of the save destination for errors.

To enable RTMP output of live streaming video

You can enable RTMP output of live streaming video on the SDI 1 and SDI 2 ports by selecting [RTMP Output] on the [Receiver] tab of the Settings screen. When RTMP output is enabled, the (RTMP output) icon is displayed on the thumbnails in the receiver area. If an error occurs during RTMP output, the (RTMP error) icon appears. Check the status of the RTMP output destination for errors.

Note

  • If QoS loss occurs or the live streaming video is unstable, increase the value of [Latency] or decrease the value of [Network Range] in the settings area.
  • The [Latency] and [Network Range] parameters can be changed during live streaming, although the live streaming output may freeze or be distorted momentarily when the value is changed.
  • The settings on the [Receiver] tab cannot be modified during live streaming.
  • When saving live streaming video to a file, the video is re-encoded at 720p and the file is subdivided about every two hours.
  • The correct operation of the saved file is not guaranteed for all playback environments.
  • The live streaming output to SDI 3 and SDI 4 ports are not saved to a file.
  • The live streaming output to SDI 3 and SDI 4 ports are not output via RTMP.
  • The output frame rate will be 50.00 fps, 59.94 fps, or 60.00 fps, depending on the input, even if “1080p, 60fps” is selected using [RTMP Output] > [Resolution] on the [Receiver] tab of the settings screen.
