Setting the playback sound quality

You can enhance the sound quality when playing music or videos by using audio effects. You can select one of the preset settings or customize the usage and detailed settings of effects.

With 360 Reality Audio, you can also personalize the sound quality.

  1. Find and tap as follows.
    [Settings] > [Sound & vibration] > [Playback quality]
  2. Tap the switch to enable the function.
    [Audio effect]
  3. Select the desired setting.

To customize audio effect settings

If you select the custom setting in the audio effect settings for playback quality, you can customize the usage and detailed settings of effects (Dolby Sound, 360 Upmix, and DSEE).

  1. Find and tap as follows.

    [Settings] > [Sound & vibration] > [Playback quality]

  2. Tap the switch to enable the function.

    [Audio effect]

  3. Select the following and set the effect you want to apply.

    [Custom]

    • [Music apps]: The selected effect is applied to the music apps.
    • [Video/other apps]: The selected effect is applied to apps other than music apps.

    You can configure detailed settings for each effect by tapping the effect name.

Note

  • The sound quality of the original sound source may take priority over the audio effects depending on the content or the app you are using.

Hint

  • To enjoy High-Resolution Audio with its original quality, make one of the following settings.

    • Tap the switch to disable the function.

      [Audio effect]

    • Tap the switch to enable the function, and select the setting that prioritize audio quality.

      [Audio effect] > [Enhance audio quality]

    • Tap the switch to enable the function, select the custom setting, and then apply DSEE Ultimate in the effect settings.

      [Audio effect] > [Custom] > [Music apps] or [Video/other apps] > [DSEE Ultimate]

  • 360 Upmix is effective only when you are using an app compatible with 360 Upmix.
