Using the Wi-Fi tethering function

You can use your device as a wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) access point to connect multiple wireless-LAN-compatible devices to the internet at the same time.

1. Tap as follows.

   [Settings] > [Network & internet] > [Hotspot & tethering]

2. Tap the following.

   [Portable hotspot]

   Then, tap the following switch to activate the function.

   [Use Wi‑Fi hotspot]

Changing the Wi-Fi tethering settings

You can change the default network name (SSID), security system, and password of your device.

1. Tap as follows.

   [Settings] > [Network & internet] > [Hotspot & tethering]

2. Tap as follows to enter the network name (SSID) of the Wi-Fi network you want to set up.

   [Portable hotspot] > [Hotspot name]

   Then, tap the following.

   [OK]

   The default setting is "Xperia_XXXX" (XXXX is a four-digit number).

3. Tap the following to select the security type.

   [Security]

   If required, enter your password.

Using USB tethering, Bluetooth tethering, or Ethernet tethering

1. Tap as follows.

   [Settings] > [Network & internet] > [Hotspot & tethering]

2. Connect your device to a compatible device
   • For USB tethering, connect your device to a computer using a USB Type-C cable.
   • For Bluetooth tethering, first pair your device with the Bluetooth device. Then, set the connection method for your device on the Bluetooth device. For operations from the Bluetooth device, refer to the instruction manual of the Bluetooth device.
   • For Ethernet tethering, connect your device to a computer or other device using a USB-LAN adapter and a wired LAN cable.

3. Tap one of the following switches to enable the tethering function.

   [USB tethering] / [Bluetooth tethering] / [Ethernet tethering]
