Framing shooting using remote shooting (Framing Settings)

movie, slow&quick motion

By using the smartphone application Monitor & Control, you can switch between the full-frame image being captured and a cropped image (an image with a portion of the screen cut out) and record or stream either one. This allows for dynamic camerawork even when the camera itself is fixed in place.

For more information about Monitor & Control, refer to the following website.

This function can be used when the camera’s system software (firmware) is Ver.7.00 or later.

  1. Connect the camera to the smartphone on which Monitor & Control has been installed.
  2. MENU (Shooting) → [Shooting Option][Framing Settings][Framing][On].
  3. MENU(Shooting) → [Shooting Option][Framing Settings] → Select an item to set, and then select the desired setting.
    • Each item in [Framing Settings] can also be set from Monitor & Control.
  4. Start framing shooting from Monitor & Control.

Menu item details

Hint

  • To return from the framing mode to full-screen shooting using the camera’s controls during recording or streaming, first assign [Framing Stop (Full)] to a custom key using [Custom Key/Dial Set.], and then press the assigned key.
  • By assigning [Switch Framing] to a custom key using [Custom Key/Dial Set.], you can press the assigned key to switch between [On] and [Off] for framing shooting.
  • The framing function enables camera-work by cropping the 4K-resolution image. When using the framing function, it is recommended that you set [File Format] to HD image quality in order to prevent deterioration of the image quality.
  • When using the manual shutter speed setting for framing shooting, it is recommended that you set a faster shutter speed to reduce blurring of the subject.

Note

  • Framing shooting is available only in the movie recording mode.
  • Even when [Framing] is set to [On], the monitor always displays image in the full angle of view, and a frame indicating the cropping area is displayed during framing shooting.
  • Depending on the settings for [File Format] and [Movie Settings], the angle of view may change when [Framing] is set to [On].
