Face/Eye AF (still image/video)
You can take photos or record videos that focus on the faces or eyes of people and animals.
To change the focus target, tap the face of the subject on whom you would like to focus.
Note
- In the BASIC (Basic) mode, the [Face/Eye AF] function is available while using the main camera.
Turning the [Face/Eye AF] function on

Tap [MENU].

Find and tap [Face/Eye AF], and then select an option.
- [Face/Eye AF]: Focuses on faces or eyes.
- [Face AF]: Focuses on faces only. The battery consumption is reduced by selecting this option compared to when [Face/Eye AF] is selected while recording a video.

Close the menu.
The setting is saved.
Shooting an image using the [Face/Eye AF] function

Point the camera at the subject.
When the camera detects the faces of people or animals, a detection frame appears.

Tap the face on which you want to focus.

Adjust the focus.
- Touch and hold the screen shutter button to focus.
- Press the device shutter button halfway down to focus.
When [Face/Eye AF] is selected, the camera focuses on one of the eyes with a green frame. When [Face AF] is selected, the detection frame of the selected face turns green.

Shoot an image.
- Release your finger from the screen shutter button.
- Press the device shutter button fully down.
Hint
- When recording a video, after tapping the face on which you want to focus in step 2, tap the screen shutter button or press the device shutter button to start recording. During recording, if [Face/Eye AF] is selected, the camera will continue to track and focus on one of the eyes, and if [Face AF] is selected, it will continue to track and focus on the face.
