Editing an Asset During Chunk File Transfer

You can reduce the total time required for video production by editing assets registered in C3 Portal using chunk file transfer from a camcorder.

  1. Select a chunk file transfer asset from the asset list on the [Asset] screen.
A (Chunk file transfer) icon is displayed on assets during chunk file transfer.
  2. Mark an In-point/Out-point, add essence marks, and click the (Create subclip) button.

A subclip is created in the same bin as the chunk file transfer asset. A (Subclip) icon is displayed on subclips.

    Note

    • To access and edit an asset during recording from external software, click [Copy Playlist URL] in the information panel on the [Asset] screen to copy the playlist URL and then paste it into the external software. Playlist URLs are in m3u8 format.
    • You can select whether subclips are named automatically or specified manually using [Title] on the [General] page of the [Settings] screen.
    • Subtitles cannot be added to an asset during chunk file transfer.
  3. Create a storyboard using the subclip, or add the subclip to an existing storyboard.
  4. Export the storyboard containing the subclip as an EDL with a proxy file.
  5. Import the exported EDL into a non-linear editor, and edit using the proxy file.
  6. When finished recording on the camcorder, obtain the high-resolution file and replace the proxy file with the high-resolution file.
