Setting the playback sound quality

You can enhance the sound quality when playing music or videos by using audio effects. You can select one of the preset settings or select [Custom] to customize the combination of effects.

With 360 Reality Audio, you can also personalize the sound quality.

  1. Find and tap [Settings] > [Sound & vibration] > [Playback quality].
  2. Tap the [Audio effect] switch to enable the function.
  3. Select the desired setting.

To customize audio effect settings

If you select [Custom] in the audio effect settings for playback quality, you can customize the combination of effects. You can turn Dolby Sound, 360 Upmix, and DSEE Ultimate on or off and make detailed settings for them.

  1. Find and tap [Settings] > [Sound & vibration] > [Playback quality].

  2. Tap the [Audio effect] switch to enable the function.

  3. Select [Custom], and then tap (Settings icon).

  4. Tap the switch for each effect to turn it on or off.

    For Dolby Sound and 360 Upmix, tap the effect name to configure settings.

Note

  • The sound quality of the original sound source may take priority over the audio effects depending on the content or the app you are using.

Hint

  • If DSEE Ultimate or 360 Upmix is turned on while Dolby Sound is also turned on, only one of the functions may be effective depending on the app you are using.
  • To enjoy High-Resolution Audio with its original quality, make one of the following settings.
    • Tap the [Audio effect] switch to disable the function.
    • Tap the [Audio effect] switch to enable the function, and then select [Enhance audio quality].
    • Tap the [Audio effect] switch to enable the function, tap [Custom] > (Settings icon), and then ensure that only DSEE Ultimate is turned on by tapping the switches.
  • 360 Upmix is effective only when you are using an app compatible with 360 Upmix.
  • By selecting [Custom] in the audio effect settings, you can apply audio effects regardless of the app. Select [Custom] and customize the audio effect settings to apply audio effects to sounds played back using apps such as Google Photos.
