Recording 4K Video and HD Video Simultaneously

You can simultaneously record a 4K (QFHD) video as a main clip and an XAVC-L video as a sub-clip, which can be used for editing, to a single memory card.

The following memory card recording formats can be used in 4K & HD (Sub) recording mode.

The sub-clip recording format varies, depending on the system frequency of the main clip.

Configuring before shooting

Set [4K & HD (Sub) Rec] – [Setting] to [On] on the [Project] status screen.

Hint

  • Can also be configured using [Project] – [4K & HD (Sub) Rec] in the full menu.

Note

  • 4K & HD (Sub) recording mode cannot be turned on at the same time as Slow & Quick Motion, interval recording, picture cache recording, clip continuous recording, 2-slot simultaneous recording, or proxy recording. When 4K & HD (Sub) recording mode is turned on, these other recording modes are forcibly turned off.
  • 4K & HD (Sub) recording mode is not available during recording, playback, thumbnail screen display, or streaming.

Recording in 4K & HD (Sub) recording mode

Press the record START/STOP button to start recording in 4K & HD (Sub) recording mode.

During recording, “XAVC-I/Sub” or “XAVC-L/Sub” is displayed on the right of the recording format (codec) indicator on the LCD monitor.

To exit 4K & HD (Sub) recording mode

During recording standby, set [4K & HD (Sub) Rec] – [Setting] to [Off] on the [Project] status screen.
