Using Image Stabilization
You can suppress blurring of the image due to shaking when shooting by enabling the image stabilization function.
Note
- Image stabilization cannot be used when [Project] – [Anamo. De-Squeeze] – [Ratio] is set to other than [Off(1.0x)] in the full menu.
Enabling image stabilization
Set [Shooting] – [Image Stabilization] – [SteadyShot] to [Standard] / [Active] / [Dynamic Active] in the full menu.
- [Standard]: Reduces blurring of captured images caused by camera shake.
- [Active]: Applies more powerful correction than [Standard] for correcting stronger camera shake, such as shooting while walking. The framing shifts slightly to the telephoto side.
- [Dynamic Active]: Applies more powerful correction than [Active]. The framing is also narrower than [Active].
- [Off]: Turns image stabilization mode off.
When not using image stabilization, set [SteadyShot] to [Off]. In this case, the use of a tripod is recommended.
Hint
- When shooting using a tripod for stability, set image stabilization to [Off]. If you perform slow pan/tilt movements with image stabilization set to other than [Off], the image may become distorted.
- You can also assign [SteadyShot] to [User 1] to [User 6] on the user functions screen.

In the following cases, image stabilization cannot be set to [Active].

When [Project] – [Rec Format] – [Codec] is set to [X-OCN LT] / [X-OCN C1] / [X-OCN C2] in the full menu

When [Shooting] – [FPS] – [Fixed/Variable Select] is set to [Variable] in the full menu and [FPS Select] is set to 150fps or higher

When [Shooting] – [FPS] – [Fixed/Variable Select] is set to [Variable] in the full menu, [FPS Select] is set to 66fps or higher, and [Imager Mode] is set to FF 5K 17:9 / FFc 4.5K 17:9.

In the following cases, image stabilization cannot be set to [Dynamic Active].

When [Project] – [Rec Format] – [Codec] is set to [X-OCN LT] / [X-OCN C1] / [X-OCN C2] in the full menu

When [Project Frame Rate] is set to 100 or higher

When [Shooting] – [FPS] – [Fixed/Variable Select] is set to [Variable] in the full menu and [FPS Select] is set to 66fps or higher

Setting the focal length automatically
The image stabilization focal length is automatically set based on information obtained from the lens.
To set the image stabilization focal length automatically, set [Shooting] – [Image Stabilization] – [Stabilization Adjustment] to [Auto] in the full menu.
Setting the focal length manually
You can set the image stabilization focal length manually.
To set the image stabilization focal length manually, set [Shooting] – [Image Stabilization] – [Stabilization Adjustment] to [Manual] in the full menu and set the focal length.
Set the focal length using [Shooting] – [Image Stabilization] – [Focal Length] in the full menu. You can set a focal length in the range 8 mm to 1000 mm.
