Using the Camera with a USB Power Supply
You can supply power to the camera via USB from an external power source during shooting and playback, reducing battery consumption and maintaining a consistent power supply to the camera.
Prepare the following commercially available products that support USB PD (USB Power Delivery).
- 27 W (min) USB Type-C cable (USB-C to USB-C)
- External power supply with 27 W (min) output (9 V, 3 A)

Insert a sufficiently charged battery pack into the camera.
The unit will not function if there is insufficient remaining battery capacity. Prepare a sufficiently charged battery pack.

Connect a USB Type-C connector of the camera to the external power supply (USB PD compatible) using a commercially available USB Type-C cable (USB PD compatible).
You can supply power to the USB Type-C connector of either USB PORT 1 or USB PORT 2. Set [Technical] – [Power Settings] – [USB Power Supply] to [Auto] / [PORT1] / [PORT2] in the full menu.

Turn the camera on.
An icon (
) indicating the USB power supply appears next to the battery indicator on the monitor, and power supply begins.
Hint
- While it is possible to supply power from a USB PD-compatible device with an output rating lower than 27 W, battery consumption may increase when supplying power.
- Power can also be supplied using devices that do not support USB PD. Use a commercially available USB Type-C cable (USB-A to USB-C). To use an AC adaptor, use an AC adaptor with an output current rating of 1.5 A or higher.
Note
- While the unit is turned on and in use, the battery is not being charged, even if connected to an external power supply.
- Under certain conditions, supplementary power may be supplied from the battery pack even if using an external power supply.
- Do not remove the battery pack while power is supplied from an external power supply. The camera will turn off if the battery pack is removed.
- Connect/disconnect the USB cable while the camera is turned off.
- When using a USB power supply, the continuous video recording time may be shortened due to the increase in internal temperature. The area around the connector may become hot.
- When using a mobile charger as an external power supply, confirm that it is fully charged before use. Also, be careful of the remaining capacity of the mobile charger during use.
- Operation is not be guaranteed with all external power supplies.
- USB power delivery cannot be used when [Technical] – [USB] – [USB Cnct Mode (PORT1)] / [USB Cnct Mode (PORT2)] is set to [USB Tethering] or [USB Timecode] in the full menu. Check the setting for the port you want to use for USB power delivery.
