Descriptions of menu items

FILE FORMAT:

Sets the file format for recording.

• XAVC S 4K: Records 4K images in XAVC S format.
  This setting is suitable for watching on a 4K TV. Both formats for recording and playback are set to this format. Movies you can play are also changed depending on the frame rate setting.
• XAVC S HD: Records HD (high definition) images in XAVC S format.
  This setting is suitable for watching on an HD (high definition) TV. Both formats for recording and playback are set to this format.
• AVCHD: Records HD (high definition) images in AVCHD format.
  This setting is suitable for watching on an HD (high definition) TV and Blu-ray disc recording. Both of formats for recording and playback are set to this format.

REC FORMAT:

Sets the recording format (bit-rate, image size, frame rate, scanning system) during recording.

The setting items differ depending on the setting of (OTHERS) - [60i/50i SEL].

SIMUL/RELAY REC:

Performs the settings of the simultaneous and relay recording.

• OFF: Does not perform the simultaneous and relay recording.
• SIMULTANEOUS REC: Performs the simultaneous recording.
  You can record movies on both memory card A and memory card B simultaneously.
• RELAY REC: Performs the relay recording.
  By inserting memory cards in slots A and B, the camcorder automatically switches memory cards just before space on the other one runs out, and continues recording.

PROXY REC MODE:

Sets whether to record MP4 movies simultaneously when recording movies in XAVC S 4K or XAVC S HD format.

MP4 movies are useful for uploading to video-sharing site or using for video editing.

• ON/OFF: Records MP4 movies simultaneously when setting to [ON].
• SIZE: Select the image size (1280×720 or 640×360).

About the setting values of [REC FORMAT]

The setting values of [REC FORMAT] indicate bit-rate, image size, frame rate, and scanning system.

• Bit-rate: 100Mbps, 60Mbps, 50Mbps, 25Mbps, 16Mbps, FX (max. 24 Mbps), FH (approx. 17 Mbps (average)), LP (approx. 5 Mbps (average))
• Image size: 2160 (3,840 × 2,160), 1080 (1,920 × 1,080)
• Frame rate: Either 120, 100, 60, 50, 30, 25, or 24
• Scanning system: i (interlace), p (progressive)

About the frame rate indication

The frame rate displayed on the LCD monitor differs from the actual frame rate.
